Jackies Solitaire up to defying penalty at Fontwell today

14:30 – Fontwell – BOB MCMASTERS BIRTHDAY JUVENILE HURDLE (CLASS 4) (3yo) Good To Soft 2m2f110y

Anthony Honeyball has been training since 2008 and last season he sent out 14 winners from 64 runners at a winning strike rate of 21.87%.  So far this season he has already has 11 winners from just 27 runners at an excellent strike rate of 40.74%.  He is clearly a trainer to keep a close eye on and he has just moved to a new yard at Mosterton in Dorset.  He currently has 26 horses in training and works in conjunction with his partner Rachael Green who is also a conditional jockey and rides a lot of the yard’s horses on the track.

This is the case with Jackies Solitaire who runs in Juvenile Hurdles race today which is restricted to 3 year old horses who have not won more than three Hurdles races.  She has only had three starts to date.  She made her debut on the all weather surface at Lingfield in February for her previous trainer Roger Charlton before being bought at the Horses In Training sale at Doncaster for £22,000 by her current owners in August.

Jackies Solitaire ran for the first time over Hurdles at Newton Abbot in August and although she finished 4th her jumping was hesitant but she did show some ability between the hurdles.  She ran at Chepstow on 8 October and had clearly learned from her Newton Abbot experience when she won nicely by 1 ½ lengths under a confident ride.  Chepstow is a tricky undulating track, especially for an inexperienced horse so to win their gives a guide to her potential as a hurdler.

She was due to run at Haydock yesterday where Anthony Honeyball thought that she was the one to beat, so the fact that he runs her at Fontwell today speaks volumes for how he expects her to go.

She has a 7lb penalty for her win at Chepstow but she does receive the 7lb fillies allowance and she gets another 5lb from her conditional jockey Rachael Green.
