Ingleby Arch taken to beat course specialists at Southwell

1:50 – Southwell – PLACE ONLY BETTING AT BLUESQ.COM SELLING STAKES (CLASS 6) (3yo+) Standard 6f

Ingleby Arch runs and in a Seller at Southwell today looking for his 11th course win.  He is up against two other horses today in Cape Of Storms and Punching who have won at Southwell 14 times between them.  However, Ingleby Arch has been in good form recently and is a consistent runner for a horse who plies his trade in the basement level these days.

The 9 year old bay gelding has been a tremendous servant for his connections with 85 career wins behind him of which 14 have been winning efforts and prize money of £105,576.

He has run on Southwell’s fibresand surface 25 times, winning 10 times and finishing placed on 6 further occasions.  He has run over today’s trip of 6 furlongs 19 times and has won 8 times and been placed 4 times.  He is a real course specialist as all of his all weather wins have come at Southwell.

The race is bound to be a tactical affair with only 4 runners and either of Cape Of Storms or Ingleby Arch could make all and win it from the front.  However, Ingleby Arch and Cape Of Storms run off level weights today and if this was a handicap Ingleby Arch would be giving Cape Of Storms 9lbs so is taken to beat his today.  Punching would also be getting 9lbs off Ingleby Arch in a Handicap and it is likely that he will not have the pace to stay with the front two especially if the do not go off to hard in the early stages of the race.

Although this is a lowly Selling race with just 4 runners it is a fascinating contest on what is a unique surface in the UK.  Given his very good recent form and his advantage at the weights, Ingleby Arch is taken to complete him 11th course win today and add a further £1.700 to his career earnings.
