5:00 – Southwell – 32REDBET.COM APPRENTICE CLAIMING STAKES (CLASS 6) (3yo+) Standard 1m
McConnell, Richard Guest’s 10 year old chestnut gelding is having his 10th start of the year at Southwell today and has maintained his form fairly well as he has already won 3 times this year.
He has run at Southwell 18 times in the past and has won 8 times and been placed once. He runs over a trip of 1 mile and all of his wins and his placed effort have come over this distance from 16 runs.
He goes in a Class 6 Claiming race this evening and all three of his wins this year have come in Claiming and Selling company and his overall career strike rate in Sellers and Claimers is 38% with 5 wins from 13 runs.
He runs off an official rating of 70 and whereas in his prime he has won off 83, in the more recent past – since November last year - he has won off marks of 70, 72, 70, and 69 respectively. He is ridden by Danny Brock today and although Danny has not ridden McConnell before he does has a 13% winning strike rate at Southwell with 8 wins from 60 rides, so should know the track well enough.
McConnell has not been at his best on his last two starts, but he has been running over 1 mile 1 furlong. He is back down to 1 mile today, running on the track he thrives at and racing off a recent winning mark must have every chance this evening of recording course and distance win number nine.
Excellent, I love CD specialists at idiosyncratic tracks, my fav system!
Do you have a results log somewhere? (do like your write-ups tho haven’t put hard cash on till now as haven;t seen results; suspect you might be hiding your lights under bushels!)
