Secret Quest has conditions to suit at Nottingham

4:45 – Nottingham – E B F PLAY BLACKJACK AND ROULETTE AT TOTEPOOL.COM FILLIES´ HANDICAP(CLASS 4) (3yo 0-85) Good To Soft 1m75y

On a low key day after all of the action over the extended Bank Holiday weekend the once raced Secret Quest is an interesting runner at Nottingham.  The 3 year old brown filly who is owned by Cheveley Park Stud only made her debut for connections on 11 May this year.  Secret Quest was originally entered in the Tattersall sales last November but was withdrawn and she justified the decision on her first run.

Her only run was over today’s course and distance when she ran in a Class 5 Maiden race.  She was initially held up by her jockey Mickael Barzalona and made headway 2 furlongs out and was chasing the leaders over 1 furlong from home.  She was ridden to lead well inside the final furlong to win by a neck.  Not many of the 9 runners have come out again since the race, but Chignon who finished 5th has won at Brighton on her next start.

With the rain falling again over the last couple of days the going at Nottingham is now Good to Soft with more rain forecast during the day.  Secret Quest ran in Soft ground on her debut and displayed a distinct knee action which suggests that she will be best with some cut in the ground, so has ideal ground conditions today.  She is also by Pivital who’s progeny generally show a preference for running with cut in the ground.

She is ridden by Mickael Barzalona again today and although he is still learning about UK courses in his first full year riding over here, he has obviously ridden at Nottingham before and being a relatively flat course is fairly easy to ride.

Secret Quest goes straight into a handicap race today after just one run and has been given an initial handicap mark of 80.  It remains to be seen if she is up to the mark but after just 1 run she could be open to any amount of improvement.  She knuckled down and won well on her debut, acting well on the ground and showing a willing attitude and looks worth supporting again today.
