Myplacelater looks best equipped in drying ground

7:55 – Warwick – VOUTE SALES WARWICKSHIRE OAKS STAKES (LISTED RACE) (FILLIES & MARES)(CLASS 1) (4yo+) Soft 1m2f188y

Timepiece who was last year’s winner of this race went on to Group 1 glory at Newmarket.  Myplacelater does not look in her class, but in a slightly lower class renewal her ability to act in most ground conditions could give her an edge this evening.  The 5 year old chestnut mare who is trained by Richard Fahey has won 4 of her 16 starts on the flat turf.  She has not won since October 2010 but her last run in the Group 3 Huxley Stakes at Chester suggests that she is coming back into some decent form.

The going at Chester was soft and running over today’s trip Myplacelater was held up until she was ridden 1 furlong out.  She stayed on to take 2nd place in the closing stages and was closing on the winner going down by just ½ length.  If she had got a clear run earlier she would probably have won.

The going at Chester is currently Soft and Myplacelater has run in soft going twice, winning once and finishing 2nd on the other occasion.  However, with the weather changing there is a chance that the going will have dried out somewhat come race time and Myplacelater has been placed in Good to Soft ground and has won three times in Good going.  She has run over today’s trip 8 times, winning three times and being placed on two of her other starts.

Franny Norton rides her again this evening having ridden her for the first time at Chester on her last start.  Franny is having a very good year so far and has ridden 25 winners since the start of the year.  Franny has ridden for Richard Fahey just 16 times on the flat turf and has won on 4 occasions.

An interesting renewal of the Warwickshire Oaks see no outstanding form choice and given Myplacelater’s ability to act on whatever ground prevails this evening and with her proven record over the trip she could well follow up after her encouraging run at Chester last time.
