Scarlet Rocks looks one of the more likely candidates in this basement Selling race at Windsor this evening. The 4 year old bay filly has only won 4 times from 28 starts on the turf but she does have a decent record at Windsor and has run well in Claimers in the past.
She was highly tried at a 2 year old when her connections clearly thought that she was going to be decent by running her in Listed and Group 3 events. However, she although she won 3 times including a Class 2 Conditions race at Chester she did run 14 times and her form deserted her towards the end of the season. She has an equally busy 3 year old campaign running 19 times last year managing just one win in that time. She ran unplaced in a Class 2 race, but otherwise was competing mainly at Classes 4 to 6.
Her connections have been much more circumspect with her this year and she has only run three times to date. She made her seasonal reappearance at Folkestone in April, but probably needed the run after three months off. Her second start was at Windsor when she finished 2nd by ½ length to Efistorm in a Claimer over today’s trip. Her last run was over 7 furlongs at Newbury when she again finished well down the field, which was her first try at the trip.
She is back down to 6 furlongs this evening at her most successful venue. Although she has only won once over the trip it did come at Windsor and she was placed here over 6 furlongs on her last run. She has run at Windsor a total of 11 times and she has won twice and been placed five times.
She has not won in Good ground but has been placed in the going twice, both of which were at Windsor and a combined loosing distance of 1 length suggests that she acts in the going.
Scarlet Rocks runs in a Seller on the turf for the first time this evening but she has run in Claimers twice previously, both of which were at Windsor and she has won one and finished second on her other start. She is obviously no superstar but on a course she clearly likes over a distance she goes well at she should have the ability in a fairly weak field to get her head in front this evening.
