Kay Gee Be should be class act down in grade

2:30 – Doncaster – CARDSAVE ADAM COLEMAN & MOLLY WOODS CLAIMING STAKES (CLASS 5) (4yo+) Good To Soft 1m

Kay Gee Be has raced 48 times before he enters the stalls at Doncaster today.  40 of his runs have come in Class 2 and Class 3 races.  He has run in Class 4 and Class 5 just eight times and he has won four times and been placed four times.  He runs in a Class 5 Claiming race today having run in a Class 2 Handicap at Epsom on Oaks Day last time out.

The 8 year old bay gelding who is now trained by Richard Fahey has run the majority of his races over today’s trip of 1 mile.  In 26 runs over the trip he has won 5 times and been placed 7 times and amassed prize money of £52,306 over the distance, winning in Class 2, Class 3 and Class 4.  The current going of Good to Soft will not be an inconvenience to Kay Gee Be this afternoon as he has won once and been placed once from five runs in the going and as and when to ground softens he has also been placed once from two runs in Soft ground.

He is ridden by Shane Kelly who has ridden him once before.  Kay Gee Be is the highest rated runner in the field by 4lbs with an Official Rating of 85.  There are just two other runners in the 80’s and in Handicap terms Kay Gee Be would be giving the second rated runner 4lbs and the lowest rated runner a massive 33lbs.  However, he only runs off the second top weight today and carries only 13lbs more than the lowest weight in the race.  Or at least he would as Shane Kelly claims 5lbs off the weight meaning that he only shoulders 8lbs more than the bottom weight.

Although he has not won at Doncaster in four attempts and has not in fact won over a straight mile before he is definitely the best horse in the field today.  On his penultimate run in the Class 2 Thirsk Hunt Cup he finished 4th behind the Coral Eclipse bound Farhh and a repeat of that performance should be good enough today.  His yard are also in decent form with 6 winners in the last 7 days.
