Ground and trip should be fine for Elizabeth Coffee

3:40 – Catterick – RACINGUK.COM CLAIMING STAKES (CLASS 6) (3yo+) Winner £2,045 Soft 1m3f214y

Elizabeth Coffee who was trained in Ireland until moving to Ian Williams Worcestershire yard in April has made a decent start to her UK career.  As a horse that is owned by Dr Marwan Koukash she is already familiar with Chester and the 4 year 0ld bay filly has already run at the Roodee course three times.  Having settled into her new yard her 2nd and 3rd runs at the course were decent efforts in handicaps and she showed a decent level of form.

Her last run was at Redcar in a Class 6 Claiming race and she was sent off as the 6/4 favourite.  She did not disappoint and after chasing the leaders 2 furlongs out, she was ridden to lead inside the final furlong and driven out to win by ½ length.

The going at Catterick is Soft and she has run in Soft ground three times winning once which was her win at Redcar. She has also run over today’s trip of 1 mile 4 furlongs three times, winning once and finishing 2nd on another occasion.

She can benefit from the experience of ex jumps jockey Graham Lee who rides her this afternoon.  Graham is having a decent first season on the flat and interestingly this is the first time he has ridden on the flat for Ian Williams.

Elizabeth Coffee looks to hold strong claims this afternoon on the back of her decent performance in claiming company at Redcar last time.  She has shown that she can win in the ground and she has also won over the distance.  She has held her form well since winning twice at Dundalk in handicaps in November last year and she should be in the places again today.
