Improving Madam Macie will relish conditions

7:55 – Doncaster  – IRISH THOROUGHBRED MARKETING CONDITIONS STAKES (CLASS 3) (4yo+) Good to Soft 1m

Madam Macie won over today’s trip at Hamilton on her last run in a Class 3 Handicap in Soft ground and came away to win by 8 lengths.  The line up for the race contained some decent horses and it was run at a true pace so the fact that she was able to go away up the stiff finish at Hamilton marked her down as one to follow.

The 5 year old chestnut mare has gone up in the weights by 9lbs for her wide margin victory but as she is running in a Class 3 Conditions Stakes this evening she runs off bottom weight as she receives 5lbs from the colts and geldings in the race.

The going at Doncaster is Good to Soft and although a dry morning is forecast, more rain is expected by mid afternoon going into the evening and any softening of the conditions will help Madam Macie.  She has won in both Good and Soft ground and she has also been placed in Good to Soft ground so underfoot conditions should be ideal. Her Hamilton win was her first over 1 mile but she has also won over 7 furlongs 200 yards which is just 14 yards short of 1 mile so can be expected to get the trip well this evening.

Madam Macie is an improving performer this season starting off in a Class 5 Handicap at Catterick in April and has now won twice and been placed twice from seven runs this season.  With question marks about the rest of the field she is more than capable of giving a good account especially in softer going.  She will be ridden prominently and it could well be ‘catch me if you can’ inside the final furlong again this evening, tactics which saw her win at Carlisle and Hamilton this season.
