Fire Lily has her ideal conditions this evening

7:25 – Naas – DARK ANGEL EUROPEAN BREEDERS FUND SWEET MIMOSA STAKES (LISTED RACE) (FILLIES) (3yo+) Yielding 6f

Fire Lily has been running in Group races all season and she is dropped down to Listed level for the first time since her second racecourse start last May.  The 3 year old bay filly is well thought of by her powerful connections and although she finished 5th in this years renewal of the French 2,000 Guineas she has only won once and been placed once this season from five runs, both in Group 3 contests.

Her last run in the Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket was not her true running due to the bottomless ground and a better representation of her form and class can be taken from her previous run when she won at Leopardstown in the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes in Soft ground.  She was always close to the leaders and was ridden to lead 1 furlong out and stayed on well to win by ¾ length in the manner of a very professional horse.

The going at Naas is Yielding (Good to Soft) and Fire Lily has won in Good to Yielding, Yielding to Soft and Soft ground, so should have no ground concerns this evening.  She has had five starts over 6 furlongs winning twice and finishing 2nd on another occasions.  Both of her wins have come in Group 3 contests and once again the trip will suit her well.

Fire Lily in ridden by Wayne Lordan who has ridden her on all but 1 of her 12 starts.  Wayne is having a decent season and has had 9 winners in the last 14 days, including 5 wins from 15 rides for David Wachman who trains Fire Lily.

Fire Lily has got her ground this evening which she has not always had this season.  She is proven over the trip and her yard is in decent form with 5  winners from 24 runners in the last 14 days.  She is dropped into Listed company for the first time since May last year and if she runs to the level of her Group 3 Leopardstown win last month, she could be hard to beat this evening.
