Jumeriah Palm Star has shown a preference for the all weather

4:00 – Kempton – BETFAIR BOOSTS PRIZE MONEY AT KEMPTON FILLIES´ HANDICAP (CLASS 5) (3yo 0-75) Standard To Slow 7f

Jumeriah Palm Star has had nine career starts to date running six times on the flat turf.  Her highest finishing position on the grass to date is 5th.  In contrast she has run on the all weather three times and has won twice demonstrating a marked preference for running on an artificial surface.  She is by Invincible Spirit who boasts a 27% winning strike race with his progeny on the all weather.  His dam is a French mare called Golden Flyer who has produced four foals who have gone on to race.  Jumeriah Palm Star’s half sister Al Khimiya has a record of 4 wins from 11 runs on the all weather compared to no wins from 8 runs on the flat turf, so her breeding certainly backs up her all weather preference.

Jumeriah Palm Star is running for the second time at Kempton today after winning here on her first start at the course in the beginning of July.  An unfancied 14/1 shot she raced prominently before going 2nd just over 2 furlongs out and staying on nicely to lead inside the last 75 yards which was pretty much how she won on her all weather debut at Lingfield in March.

She runs over 7 furlongs today and in 5 starts over the trip she has won once (at Lingfield), but her record reads 1 win from 2 starts on the all weather over the trip.  She runs off an official rating of 74 this afternoon which is just 2lbs higher than her last winning run at Kempton and her polytrack form to date would appear good enough to win off a 2lb higher mark.

She is ridden by Richard Hughes for the first time and he is riding well so far this month with 16 winners from 74 rides at a winning strike rate of 22%.  He also has a fairly decent record at Kempton with a 17% strike rate over the past 5 seasons.

A combination of her normal running style along with a top jockey riding will help Jumeriah Palm Star today.  Her prominent running style means that she should be in the right position to mount her challenge as it can sometimes be difficult to come from behind at Kempton.  The form of her last win here looks solid enough with three winners coming out of the race so far and with winning form over the distance and a course win, she should go close again today.
