Quinder Spring stands out for in form yard in ordinary race

2:55 – Carlisle – CHIPPING RACING CLUB HANDICAP CHASE (CLASS 5) (4yo+ 0-100) Soft, Good to Soft in places 2m4f

Quinder Spring attempts to follow up on his win at Uttoxeter 18 days ago in this basement level Handicap chase.  The 8 year old grey gelding has had a decent campaign over the back end of the summer.  Since his seasonal reappearance at Market Rasen on 5 August he has won twice and been placed once from four runs.  Today is probably the day to catch him again for winning purposes as from here on in he will find it more difficult to win as the better chasers start to reappear.

Quinder Spring has run 17 times over fences, winning four times and being placed on three other occasions.  He runs off a mark of 100 this afternoon and as he won off a mark of 102 last November still has 2lbs in hand of his highest winning mark.

The going at Carlisle on the chase course is Soft, Good to soft in places which will not pose any problems for Quinder Spring as he has won three times from eight runs in Soft ground.  He has run seven times between 2 miles 4 furlongs and 2 miles 5 ½ furlongs and has won three times and been placed twice.  He has run at Carlisle twice previously and was unplaced on both runs, but they did come at distances over 3 miles and he was running off a handicap mark of 109 on both occasions.

He is ridden by Grant Cockburn today who claims 7lbs off his weight.  Grant has ridden Quinder Spring five times in total, including all four of his last runs which takes in two wins and a placed effort.  In effect Quinder Spring will be running off 93 when Grant’s claim is taken into account compared to his highest winning mark of 102.

Quinder Spring has won back to back races previously and with his yard in such good form can be expected to run well again today.  With three of the field making their seasonal reappearance today and the other two runners showing no recent form he looks to have a good chance of following up this afternoon.
